Dr. Jin Gu, Professor of Surgery at Peking University School of Oncology, was elected to Academie Nationale de Chirurgie (ANC), the French Academy of Surgery. Professor Daniel Jaeck, President of ANC, presented the certificate of Foreign Honorary Member to Dr. Gu. The ANC dates back to 1731 when it was established as the French Royal Academy of Surgery and since became a prestigious professional organization with Nobel laureates. Dr. Gu was elected to ANC for his invaluable contributions to the advancements in surgical care for patients with colorectal cancer in China.

Dr. Jin Gu was named the president of Peking University SG Hospital, a teaching hospital affiliated to Peking University. In his new post, Dr. Gu envisions to leverage the existing infrastructure at SG Hospital and available at Peking University to further enhance and improve the clinical care for patients it serves. One of the near future focuses is to build up a fist class multi-disciplinary oncology care team.

Dr. Jin Gu has been a founding member of the USCACA Board of Directors since its inception in 2007.
Professor Gu Jin is an eminent surgeon and is currently Director of colorectal Surgery Dept. of Beijing Cancer Hospital, Peking University Cancer Hospital, and President of Peking University SG Hospital. He also served as Chairman of the Chinese Society of Oncology (Chinese Medical Association). He graduated with a medical degree from Peking University College of Medicine, after which he went on to complete further training as a Visiting Scholar at Les Hôpitaux Universitaires de Strasbourg, France and at the Columbia School of Physicians and Surgeons, US. Prior to assuming his present appointment, he held the position of Attending Physician before being promoted to Professor and Deputy Director of the Department of Surgery, Beijing Medical University, China.

Professor Gu’s current research interests in the field of colorectal cancer include diagnosis, multidisciplinary management, staging, chemotherapeutic options and individualised therapy. He received numerous prestigious national awards for his research endeavours. To date, he has authored and co-authored more than 60 manuscripts and review articles in distinguished peer-reviewed journals including Cancer, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Clinical Cancer Research, and Diseases of the Colon & Rectum.
Professor Gu is a member of several leading international and regional professional societies and organisations including the American Society of Colorectal Surgery, Asia Surgical Association, International Society of University Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and the Fellow of American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S). , and the Foreign Honorary Member of French academy of Surgery. He also serves on the editorial boards of many distinguished publications including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Lancet, Chinese Journal of Surgery, Digestive Surgery and the British Medical Journal.
